xhtml basic???

[Archived in Entry, Pda's]

cframe on 2003/12/15:

„Up till this point I thought i was relatively clued up on the standards avaliable (transitional, frameset, strict & 1.1) but Id never ever noticed basic before. Following a link to the w3c page on basic showed me that it is primarily for use in marking up pages for use on portable devices such as pda's and phones. It also seems to have been recommended, if nothing else, in december of 2000, surely I didnt not notice it for around 3 years...“

Robert Whittaker - Web Authoring Tips

„The W3C Markup Pages containlots of useful information and links, including full specificationsfor HTML 4.01 , and XHTML 1.0 . The specs may be abit daunting to beginners, who might prefer something like the HTML Master's Reference , orthe WDG's HTMLReference . The W3C's MarkupValidation Service is an excellent way to check the validity of yourpages.“

The Greedy Capitalist: David Veksler's Homepage :: Archives :: Cat_website_news.html

„Normally, I could just switch to a backup server, but my site happened to go down at the same time that I was putting together a new computer, so I can't access any of my files either.  So, I'm out of luck until the 12th, when my monthly quota is reset (or so I hope).  Till then, I'll be sitting on my ancient Pentium 233 (with MMX!) Mandrake Linux pc and checking the FedEx tracking website every 5 minutes to see when all the components for my new computer will arrive.  Or maybe I'll actually go spend some time outside.“

The Greedy Capitalist: Economics Archives

„In supposedly ‘socialist’ Russia, for example, there still existed wage slavery, commodity production, buying, selling and exchange, with production only taking place when it was viable to do so. ‘Socialist’ Russia continued to trade according to the dictates of international capital and, like every other capitalist, state, was prepared to go to war to defend its economic interests. The role of the Soviet state became simply to act as the functionary of capital in the exploitation of wage labour, setting targets for production and largely controlling what could or could not be produced.“

ReDesign

„I got it XHTML 1.0 Transitional valid, but I'll need to play around a little more to get the CSS to validate. I didn't use any tables for the layout, but coded Div tags and CSS Absolute positioning. It's my first attempt at both XHTML and CSS so please bear with me until I get a decent Beta out.“

Convinced

„When I started running my various category pages through the W3C XHTML validator I should have known upfront that they wouldn't validate, because I had imported old (blogger) entries into MT. And those very first blogger entries were coded in HTML3.1 or 4, I don't even recall, but they certainly are not XHTML compliant.“

Webpage Creation and Maintenance SIG Information - XHTML

„XHTML is a recasting of HTML in XML. After XML became a recommendation, the question arose: if we have XML, do we still need HTML since now anybody can design their own Web-delivered language? To answer this question, we held a two-day workshop in San Francisco in May 1998, and we came to the conclusion that, yes, there is still a need for HTML.“

Modularization of XHTML

„This document has been reviewed by W3C Members and other interested parties and has been endorsed by the Director as a W3C Recommendation. It is a stable document and may be used as referencematerial or cited as a normative reference from another document. W3C's role in making the Recommendation is to draw attention to the specification and to promote its widespread deployment.“

XHTML Explained | cleaner code with new HTML standards || HTMLSource ]

„Ideal HTML would be purely structural, with every element concerning how a page is displayed being controlled by a stylesheet. The » W3C (HTML's overseers, whom you should know something about by now) have spearheaded this desire with XHTML.“
