Wi-Fi hacking, with a handheld PDA | Zero Day | ZDNet.com

[Archived in Entry]

[ Only Hit News] Okay, this is scary. This lady has a WiFi enabled PDA that can discover open connections and networks, and launch hacking exploits, all from the palm of the hand.

[Shadowmite.com] Shadowmite.com Blog » WM5 PDA: As a strong counterpoint to the recent PalmOS news, Microsoft does plan to release a new OS in a very short timeframe.  Now I’m not a big fan of windows, or of giant soulless corporations that are evil in thier basic nature, but microsoft does do one thing well: make operating systems.  I use thier operating system, and largely because offerings from linux dont have the central development nessecary to bring a mobile OS to market and because PalmOS has become defunct by its own very nature coupled with a bungleing corporate policy of self destruction… leaving Windows Mobile the leading PDA-phone OS race almost by default.  I think that a tecnnology war between a few major factions would bring superior products to everyone and quickly advance the already rapid pace that new products come to market, but there arent any operating systems that can offer serious opposition to Windows Wobile.  As much as I would love to see a multitasking Palm OS or a mobile linux from Access or elsewhere,  I dont see either coming anytime soon.  I do see a new generation of Windows Mobile on its way…

[Lawtechguru.com] LAWTECH GURU BLOG by Jeff Beard: Update on RSS Readers for Palm OS ...: For my purposes, I prefer a solution which allows content updating via both a HotSync and direct Internet connection for the most flexibility. With cached content stored on the PDA, one can download the latest news headlines and blog summaries for reading when there may not be a Net connection available (e.g., in-flight or if your PDA simply lacks Internet connectivity).

[Amazon.com] Amazon.com: Palm & Treo Hacks: Books: Scott MacHaffie: Scott MacHaffie's PALM & TREO HACKS: TIPS & TOOLS FOR MASTERING YOUR HANDHELD, for example, covers more than the basic and well-known calendar and address book features commonly used by Palm owners: it tells how to tweak the Palm's settings, customize third-party replacements for its applications, play games, and use custom ringtones and weblog postings. A 'must' for any who have the basics down and want to go further.
