[Digital Tech News] Well, how about a virtual tour of the VAIO UX to see what all the buzz is all about? jkOnTheRun did some digging on Sony's Japanese UX pages and found a Vaio UX Micro PC flash video presentation and interactive 360-degree virtual tour, and I have to say that it looks like the "Origami"

Digital Tech News: jkOnTheRun did some digging on Sony's Japanese UX pages and found a Vaio UX Micro PC flash video presentation and interactive 360-degree virtual tour, and I have to say that it looks like the "Origami" UMPC does not have the future of handheld computing locked-up. jkOnTheRun: You probably won't make out most of the text in the video, (unless your Japanese reading skills are up to par), however, the interactive video is intuitive enough to easily navigate around. (via Cosmos)
[Notebook Computer | Laptop Computer] Sony gets official on new Vaio UX Micro PC: We're not sure if the UX has another pointer device, but the unit can be docked to allow for desktop use, including VGA, Ethernet, IEEE-1394, three USB 2.0 ports and AV out, so you can use a regular mouse in those situations. We wish Sony would mention their battery life predictions for this mini beast, but they did let us know that the UX will be out in July for around $1800.
[Digital Tech News] Sony Vaio UX: You would think that this Sony Vaio UX would actually be Sony's UMPC device, but the Vaio UX tablet PC looks smaller than current UMPCs, and runs Windows XP Pro, not the Windows Tablet edition OS. Mobility Today revealed news of the Vaio UX and says that the mini-PC will have a 4.5 inch 1024x600 touchscreen, slide out QWERTY keyboard, 3 to 7 hours battery life, Two Cameras, Core Solo processor, Biometric sensor, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, Windows XP Professional, and possibly an HDMI port as well.
[Jkontherun.blogs.com] jkOnTheRun: Almost every review I have seen of the Samsung Q1 (why these reviewers are largely ignoring the TabletKiosk eo is beyond me since it is the only UMPC shipping in the US to date) is quick to point out the lack of a keyboard, low battery life, lack of an optical drive and of course the high price point. What is driving these observations in the reviews seems to be a lack of perception of what these devices actually are and that is obviously a failure in the marketing.

[Blog.scifi.com] SCI FI Tech: Then again, there's a chance it could kick off an escalating remote-control arms race: First you get the jammer, then he gets an RF remote control, then you get an RF jammer, then he gets a high-power signal booster, then you get an invisible shield for the cable box, then he says, "To hell with it," gets a pair of shoes, and walks up to the damn thing to change channels. That's when you know things have gotten way out of hand, so maybe you'd better think carefully before you send your $9.50 to The Gadget Shop.
