Treo 600 Video Tidbits

[Archived in Entry, Treo Pda]

mrohde on 2003/10/03:

„In another ZDNet video interview , Donna Dubinsky talks about the challenges that the Treo 600 will face in a global market. She discusses particularly older Treo plusses (well integrated PDA/Phone) and the minuses: mainly its honkin' size and PDA-ness compared to mobile phones.“

Palm Powered Tidbit-O-Rama

„Lo Szabo sent along a link from PC Magazine, who have written a pre-review of the upcoming Treo 600 . It appears Jim Louderback at PC Magazine really likes the Treo. From my own experience with even the grayscale Treo 180, Handspring (soon to be Palm) has done an outstanding job integrating a PDA and mobile phone into a useful "communicator".“

PCD 10/3/03 Moggridge

„The Palm operating system offers a set of functions that are simple enough to use to make a "palm top" computer compelling, particularly when combined with the ability to "hot sync" to your personal computer. Rob Haitani worked with Jeff Hawkins as the designer responsible for defining the interactions, originally at Palm and now at Handspring. He tells the story of how the crucial decisions about the operating system were made.“

Oh, that crazy Apple rumour press!

„There's a wild story making the rounds. All the usual suspects, the ubergeeks who make their living spreading silly rumours about Apple , have come out with this whopper . It seems that yet again, Steve Jobs is planning to bet the whole company by introducing a bran-new computer platform with untried technology and zero software support.“

It's Not Sprint's Fault

„I'm torn about the new Treo 600. If I get it I can keep using Sprint (which I'm marginally happy with), but if I'd rather have Bluetooth, which is not available in any of the Sprint phones (at least none that I can find). I suppose if the Treo600 will support a SD card with BlueTooth then I may stay with Sprint.“

Great PDA vs. Laptop Comments

„This reminds me of Jeff Hawkins' comments in his keynote last week at the PalmSource Dev Con. When asked if he listened to customer comments, he said "Not really." He said what was more important was to watch what customers do. He cemented his point when he referred to voice recording.“

In 1980 he designed the first laptop computer, the GRiD Compass. During the next few years he pioneered user interface design as a discipline to be an integrated part of product development, and coined the name Interaction Design.“
