Sony Ericsson says no P800 keyboard

[Archived in Entry, Treo Pda]

tokerud on 2003/07/01:

„I am very disappointed about the failure of SE to provide a keyboard accessory for the P800. If your phone/pda wasn't so good, I and many others would have bought a pda/phone with built-in keyboard like the Tungsten W or Treo 270, Treo 300 or the color T-mobile Sidekick. But, you guys are ahead of the curve with your built-in camera, bluetooth, phone-like shape and better screen (except for resolution of Tungsten W).“

Sony Ericsson gains on Nokia

„"The worldwide market for cell phones is outstripping even the most enthusiastic predictions from the beginning of the year, as consumers continue to snap up handsets at a dizzying rate, according to research released Monday by Gartner.Handset vendors sold 132.8 million units in the third quarter of this year, up 22 percent from last year's third-quarter shipments of 108.8 million units, says Ben Wood, an analyst with Gartner based in London. Sony Ericsson says no P800 keyboard

„Let me put it like this; If Sony fails to come up with a keyboard sollution to the P800 it would be a textbook example of customer neglect that would go into history. It's a tremendous marketplace waiting for this, and if Sony cannot see that they are not in thouch with their customers at all (their early chatboard failed, but that was a totally different segment of the market). The failure to produce a keyboard to the P800 will certainly result in me moving to another brand, and our customers will for sure get the same reccomendation.“

Address Book and Sony Ericsson P900 compatibility

„"Sony Ericsson and HP have teamed up to provide mobile printing over Bluetooth from any Sony Ericsson P800 or P900 wireless handheld. Both models, which support Bluetooth, will be able to use new software to print JPG images, email text, SMS text, contacts, and calendar items from their handheld directly to a Bluetooth printer supporting the Bluetooth Basic Print Profile (BPP)....The HP mobile printing software will be available soon for download by existing P800 and P900 users." [infoSync World]Mobile printing is moving along much faster than I thought it would.“

Now, there's a chance for the company to redeem itself with that smartphone's successor - because the P900 is out, and it's been reviewed.“

review: Sony Ericsson P800

„(Author note: This review of the Sony Ericsson P800 is written for late adopters — anyone too sheepish to admit they weren't right there when this curious, sophisticated device came to market last autumn. Sony Ericsson (hereafter "SE") announced its successor, the P900, just last week at CTIA 2003, so P800s should be become cheaper by the dozen quite soon in both closeout retail and secondary markets, as well as directly from AT&T . The author is a noted late adopter, having most recently jumped the Chicago Cubs bandwagon around Game 2 of the Division Series against Atlanta.“

Brando Sony Ericsson P800 Series Belt-clip Case Review

„As you can see, the front part of the case is cut out in such a way as to expose the phone and allow one to use the phone with the keypad flip closed (like a regular mobile phone) as well as extended (to reveal the full screen, like a PDA). Proper cut outs are also made providing access to the power button, connector for stereo headphone, jog dial on one side, and the camera shutter button, internet button, stylus and memory stick duo slot on the other. The communicam and external speaker area are also properly exposed at the back.“
