[Guardian Unlimited: Gamesblog] TiVo's only nominally around in the UK - it never really had a chance, when its marketing operations were contracted to Sky (who predictably spent rather a lot more promoting Sky+ instead). I can't see TiVo itself coming back, although cable companies are planning their own PVRs, and a comparable feature set might help people go for a cable setup rather than a satellite one.

[XplanaZine] There's a New Switch in Town (and it has to do with advertising!): These days the trend is toward getting rid of those pesky ads when it comes to TV. Increasingly, viewers are looking for ways to customize and control their viewing experience. Now maybe it's because we're such a busy people, or maybe we're just fed up with too much information in our daily lives.
[Blogmaverick.com] How Bob Iger Saved Network TV - Blog Maverick - www.blogmaverick.com _: Its not inconceivable that just as DVDs have surpassed box office in revenues and the theatrical release has become a commercial for the DVD sale, the network TV broadcast could become the commercial for the download sale. I dont see download sales surpassing advertising revenue, but I do see it as likely that the download sales could more than compensate for any advertising market weakness brought on by ratings erosion and / or changes in how ads are delivered on TV.
[Newmediamusings.com] New Media Musings: A video podcast is something that can be watched outside of the context of it's original blog posting, or it might not have anything to do with a blog -- it could just be video on an RSS feed that is listed and subscribed to from some directory somewhere and the interaction between the audience and the podcaster more mimics traditional media because the normal feedback loop that is part of a blog is not important or is broken or discarded all together -- like traditional media, it's basically one way communication. It's also video encoded in such a way to be compatible with the iPod.
