PPC Crash
[Archived in Entry, Mobile Pocket Pc]

„Man, I hate it when something happens and my Windows Mobile Pocket PC locks up. Fortunately, they were careful with the coding and it only fouls up about once a year or so, but still... When it does foul up, everything on the device is erased.“

„Personally I hate this type closure, as I am always afraid I am going to cut myself on the plastic. Before you ask, I will tell you that I am not much of a recycler, so that is not the soapbox I am standing on. Even so, I still found it excessive, so that should tell you something.“http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/ covertec-ppc-phone-case-review.html - Cached
„In the Pocket PC community, a good device would include: 32MB RAM, 16MB ROM, a 16K high resolution screen, multi-media capability, and a built-in Compact Flash (CF) or Secure Digital (SD) expansion slot. A dream machine might include: a minimum of 64MB RAM, 32MB ROM, a 16K high resolution screen, multi-media capability, two built-in expansion slots, and a small form factor - preferably with a built-in screen cover. Of course, adding "always on" CDMA wireless capability without compromising battery life would truly bring such a device to "dream machine" status - at least for me, but I digress...“http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/ toshiba-e570-ppc-review.html - Cached
„This may sound weird, but I think the Pocket PC devices make you start to forget about your basic and real needs. You start getting caught up in the world of mobile games (which are admittedly impressive), form factor, online browsing, and all sorts of other stuff that is cool in theory, but still works far better on a traditional laptop or desktop.“http://sean.typepad.com/ditto/2004/04/ treo_600_vs_poc.html - Cached

„As I understand it though, that that doesn't come with an optimising compiler (brilliant for distributing those lovely bloated slow apps that everyone loves to buy), support for developing Windows Mobile apps, not to mention you can't then upgrade or get any sort of discount if you do then find the money to buy VS.NET. I would've thought for the person who is going to be forced to by VC# because of the pricing of VS.NET, that including the abaility to develop for Windows Mobile would definately be something to include - the apps generally being smaller it's an area where smaller developers could definately make more of an impact.“http://simon.kittle.info/blog/archives/ 2003_10.html#000157 - Cached

„T-Mobile announced that they would do the Windows Mobile 2003 upgrade to their Pocket PC Phone Edition many months ago, but it has taken a while to get it delivered. In the mean time, many folks have found copies from various sources and loaded it on their devices. T-Mobile has now released the official version of this upgrade.“http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread/ t-26958.html - Cached
„To do this, you had to purchase an expansion sleeve that would accommodate whatever memory format you wanted to use - as long as it was Compact Flash or PCMCIA. Eventually, sleeves came out with dual PCMCIA and dual compact flash slots so that you could not only add additional memory but even additional peripherals such as modems and GPS modules. Obviously, these sleeves could add quite a bit of bulk to what was normally a svelte device, but the added functionality made all of us loyal iPAQ users giddy.“http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/ hp-ipaq-5455-review.html - Cached
