„They were not at all useful for handhelds. Not until Pocket PC (CE 3.0) did Microsoft get it right, and they had to copy a lot of Palm's approach, and they had to simplify a lot of things (The advantages and disadvantages of affordances also apply in this case, maybe more so than in others). With phones, it's going to be a similar curve, but they may never get there, since at Russ says it's not a good idea to talk about phones as if they were PCs. Except, maybe, in Japan, where so many people actually use their cellphones for browsing instead of using a PC.“http://www.dynamicobjects.com/d2r/archives/ 001203.html - Cached

Palm OS Devices Deliver Lower TCO, Higher Satisfaction than Pocket PCs
(#)
„I sometimes get asked why I favor Palm OS devices over Pocket PCs. My short answer is that in my humble opinion, Palm-powered devices are simply easier to learn and use out of the box (i.e., are more intuitive) and have many thousands of programs available. Chances are that if I'm looking to do something new on my Palm-powered PDA, someone else has already thought of it and posted a program (often free) or the solution online.“http://www.lawtechguru.com/archives/2004/.../ 04_palm_os_devices_deliver_lower_tco_higher_satisfaction_than_pocket_pcs.html - Cached

„Now, I know that you can say about the second. "Current Palm's let you do this too!" That may be so, and while I don't have much experience with the current Palm based PDA's, (I've been using a IIIx since '97), I bet putting the documents onto the device is nothing like using the PocketPC. All I have to do is drag the doc to the "My Device\My Documents\" folder, and it's there. I can then edit it and drag it back into a folder on my desktop.“http://blog.opencg.org/blogs/main/archives/ 000346.html - Cached

review: rim blackberry 7230
(#)
„one of the bonehead "salesguys" i was with piped in and said "you know, you really need to make your devices look cooler. the graphics look terrible compared to a palm or pocket pc, and you have to have color". i remember thinking " i'd trade it all as long as i can keep my week long battery life! email and battery life." today i hold in my hand the blackberry 7230, the first color model to appear in the US.“http://www.burningdoor.com/steve/archives/ 000039.html - Cached

„It is powered by a Motorola i.MX1 processor, which is not nearly as fast (in terms of clock speed) as other competing handhelds, but gets the job done well. Even though I would have preferred a 300-400mhz processor as found in competing PalmOne and various Pocket PC handhelds, in my experience, Zodiac performs well. Fast, crisp, and very responsive. No complaints here.“http://www.pocketfactory.com/archives/ 000149.html - Cached

Graffiti 2 Is NFG on Palm T3

„I'm returning to the Palm OS after spending the past 2 years using a Pocket PC. The T3 is now my instrument of choice. At first I thought oh this is going to be great, small, fast (oops a bug slows it up by 10 - 20% - the fix is available at: http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_story.asp?ID=6176 or try the T3 Optimizer directly.)“http://WWW.DRPRIBUT.COM/mt/archives/000096.html - Cached
