stareja on 2003/05/28:

„The Pocket PC, while very nice, doesn't sync with Linux (my main OS) and most of the software is way too expensive for my taste.“

Dog-Gone-Wild-Cat-Ride May - June 2002

„Jay & Sandy sat along the cabin top remarking on the tall wall of buildings along West Palm Beach, now ten miles west along the horizon. The radio crackled with Coast Guard calls for vessels in distress scattered from the edge of the Bahamas bank, 40 miles east of us, and back down the coast to Fort Lauderdale and the Port Everglades inlet. Rick didn't like the look of the darkening sky dead up wind, and the crew had the main dropped, and the jib furled as the front closed in with driving rain and wind shifting into the northwest.“

Fossil Palm and Pocket PC Wrist PDA Review

„Available in both Pocket PC and Palm OS compatible models, Judie grabbed the Palm version and I took the Pocket PC version to review. My first thoughts upon seeing the watch was that it was huge, heavy and manly. I really can't envision a woman wanting to wear this watch.“

PDA Buyer's Guide: buying hints and tips: Comparing Palm vs. Pocket PC

„While working with Excel spreadsheets can be challenging on a small screen, most all Current Sony Clié and Palm Tungsten models as well as the Zire 71 do have a higher resolution 320 x 320 (or 320 x 480) pixel displays which Docs To Go 5 does takes advantage of. This means you'll enjoy more screen real estate than on the Pocket PC which as a 240 x 320 pixel display. If you're content to view a few docs and spreadsheets on your PDA for reference, the standard resolution 320 x 320 resolution Palm or Clié models will do just fine, as will the Pocket PC.“

Moving from Palm to Pocket PC

„In the end, after this initial one week, I am not sure if I want to go back, even though I believe that the Palm has by far the better interface for doing what you are supposed to do with a PDA. The nice thing about the Pocket PC is that it stretches the limit what you do with your PDA, partly due to the color screen, partly due to the good expansion capabilities and partly due to the different OS that allows for multitasking.“

Palm OS RSS News Readers

„While there are several RSS news "aggregators" out there for Mac, Windows and Linux platforms, Palm users had been waiting for one -- until last week. Stand Alone software has just released Hand/RSS , a $15 shareware RSS news reader/aggregator for Palm OS. I grabbed a demo copy and had a look at the software on the Tungsten C and it works quite nicely.“

Running a business on OS X and Linux

„At CNN, I worked in tech support, which gave me a valuable perspective on a rapidly growing company whose needs were being met by a few “cowboy coders,” who threw together solutions in rapid-deployment systems like FileMaker, Perl, and AppleScript. Then, the “professionals” came in, and started building massive, complicated, Windows-only applications using Visual C++, MFC, and CORBA (success story from 1997; I'm not sure any of the applications mentioned are still in use). The cowboys were sent packing, but the software from the corporatists broke a lot more and was harder to support and troubleshoot.“
