Notes from the 2004 PalmSource Developer Conference
[Archived in Entry, Pda Palm Os]
Craig on 2004/02/12:
„While there's no SD or other expansion slot on the camera itself, there's a slick little SD/MMC card reader adapter that plugs into the USB port on the bottom of the phone. For those wanting their Palm OS apps in the smallest possible PDA-phone combination (possibly even the smallest Palm OS device overall), this is it.“

Some slightly related:
„While there have been a number of rumors flying recently about three new Palmmodels, only one has been reportedlyspotted (and photographed): the new business-focused Tungsten E. Thinkof the Tungsten E as the business suit equivalent to the corporate casual Zire71: twice the memory of the Zire 71 (32 megs to the Z71's 16), the same 144 Mhzprocessor (quite speedy, although not up to the 400 Mhz in the Tungsten C),stereo sound and a Secure Digital expansion slot...but no digital camera. The Tungsten E also lacks both the slider of the Tungsten T/T2 siblings or thekeyboard of the Tungsten C; it has the traditional silk-screened Graffiti area(Graffiti 2, actually), and neither Bluetooth nor Wi-Fi connectivity builtin. The price? According to the person who found one, it will sellfor an incredible $199!“http://www.panix.com/~jezor/palmblog/archives/ 2003_09.html - Cached
„HP has a prototype called "The Translator" which uses a camera module to scan in text and then software on a Pocket PC to translate the phrase. IBM has been working on incorporating the AltaVista translation engine into their devices. VoxTec is planning on shipping their Phraselator PDA soon to troops in Afghanistan.“http://www.davespda.com/archive/mar2002.htm - Cached
„I ended up using the SD slot for a memory card and the CF slot for a Socket WiFi card. This device gives me all of the expansion I need without needing a sleeve - I love it! Another thing I was able to do quite easily is pull a CF card out of my Canon digital camera, slide it into the 2215, and then view the pictures using the included Image Viewer or Pictures applications.“http://www.pdantic.com/reviews/ ipaq2215review.htm - Cached
„It lacks Bluetooth of course, but hey, it's got an SD slot, so you can throw a Bluetooth card in there. It's got a decent processor, a camera, and more. I only have to assume it's got the Multimedia Mobile prereqs like J2ME support and MMS as well.“http://www.russellbeattie.com/notebook/ 1003365.html - Cached

„Yahoo Calendar is incredibly clumsy and does not show side-by-side on the Palms. Now Up-To-Date is the closest we could find, but it requires a server with a fixed IP address, which our cable modem won't give us. And, I can't use Outlook; my agency forbids it because of its manifest insecurities, so anything reliant on Outlook is Out.“http://palmaddicts.blogspot.com/ 2003_10_14_palmaddicts_archive.html - Cached
„For whatever reason I decided to mess around with WordPress and have to say at first glance it is very slick. The WordPress team has made a product that is very advanced, while maintaining a high degree of simplicity at the same time. I was able to edit my posts from an MT export by editing one line in the import script (just had to say where my MT export file was) and then it fully imported my entire history of MT in about 30 seconds!!“http://www.atmasphere.net/mt/archives/ 2004_03.html#006883 - Cached

„It's a Palm device and a Cellular phone, packed into avery small form factor of 4.3" x .7" x 0.7" and weighing in atonly 5.2oz. There has been a lot of excitement about this little device, and nowyou can get one in the US for $549.99US or 399.99US with activation.“http://www.dgotech.com/morepalm/ newsarchive01.html - Cached
„The new CPU will apparently ship in large volumes by the end of March, which means the "next generation" of Pocket PCs and Palm OS devices will benefit from the PXA255. Now if we can just get Microsoft and software developers to optimize their software for the new chip we'll be in great shape!“http://www.pdantic.com/blog/2003_01_01_arc.htm - Cached
