Motorola MPx200 Review

[Archived in Entry, Sync Pocket Pc]

Scott on 2004/01/13:

„Fortunately, they have some competition in this space--Mark/Space also makes MacPocketPC sync software. They don't support Smartphones right now, but I've seen a handful of requests. Hopefully the situation will resolve itself--either Pocketmac will improve or Mark/Space will replace them.“

Motorola MPx200 Review

„One little thing got in the way--I read an announcement that PocketMac is now shipping a version of their sync software for MS Smartphones, like the Motorola MPx200 that AT&T is selling. That means that the MPx200 can sync with the Mac, which puts it back onto my list. It doesn't do Bluetooth, but most reviews claim that it's actually a decent phone, not just a gizmo like a lot of the early palm phones, so I figured I'd give it a try.“

Bedtime ramblings...

„Sure the MPX200 doesn’t have any camera features, but it does sync all your Outlook data information which is HUGE for me. With an MP3 player on the phone as well as true PDA web browser capabilities I was most“

PDA Buyer's Guide Reviews: Samsung i600 Microsoft Smartphone for Verizon

„The Samsung i600 and the GSM Motorola MPx200 offered by AT&T Wireless were the first Microsoft Smartphone devices to hit the US market in the Fall of 2003, and remain the only ones on the market. Europe had the pleasure of meeting MS Smartphone first, and while their current offerings there run the MS Smartphone 2003 OS, our US models run the 2002 version. Samsung tells us that an upgrade to the 2003 OS will be ready this summer.“

Motorola MPx200 Smartphone Review

„Motorola MPx200 smartphone is being manufactured by Chi Mei Communications from Taiwan. Compal - also Taiwanese corporation - already has been producing one MS Smartphone: Compal AR11 (also konwn as Everlink Wireless SC1100), but it is sold only as developer phone, not suitable for usage by end users or consumers. Now some rumors appear that Compal will produce several phones for Motorola, including smartphone.“

TomTom Navigator GPS review

„The next version of the Pocket PC Phone, known as the XDA II or the MDA II depending on which carrier is offering it, still isn't available here, but it is out in the United Arab Emirates, where it's sold as the "i mate." Pocket PC Dubai has an early review of the phone, which runs on the 2003 version of Pocket PC Phone Phone Edition operating system, has 128MB of RAM, a 400MHz processor, an SDIO expansion slot (so you can add WiFi), a 65,000 color display, Bluetooth, and a built-in digital camera. New Motorola smartphone

„Firstly it offers the latest 2003 version of Microsoft's Smartphone operating system, which is a tad faster and more efficient than the current one. The phone will also feature an integrated VGA camera and come with Bluetooth for connecting it to a headset or a laptop PC. Also the phone has 10MB of internal storage - very generous for a mobile.“

Russell Beattie Notebook - Moto Redux and PumaTech now IntelliSync

„The latest spate of interesting handsets from Motorola makes me realize I need to explore what they're doing a bit more in depth - I am definitely guilty of only paying attention to Nokia releases. But Moto's been so insane over the past year, I almost gave up hope. Last summer I analyzed a bit what their direction was and bemoaned the fact that Motorola was selling their Starfish sync products to PumaTech .“

Getting it done!

„HandMark touts Express as a much faster and easier method for searching with the micro-browsers found on wireless PDAs and smartphones. HandMark Express is a direct Internet client application that works via a subscription, as opposed to a web browser based service. It provides automatic and on demand updates to news, market data, weather, sports scores, maps and directions, directory lookups, movie times and ticket purchases.“

When platform choice borders on insanity

„Here's the scenario: Robert Scoble links to noted Microsoft hater Russell Beattie's article on "M$ SmartPhones Catching Up." . Russell rdirects any inbound links from Scoble's site to one of the Microsoft/DOJ judgement documents (Scoble is a Microsoft employee these days). So far, so witty.“
