„You will receive a text version of the requested page. Great for e-mail appliances, PDA, cell phones, alphanumeric pagers and textonly e-mail systems. If your email service or device has a message size limitation, you can request to have your pages splitinto multiple, smaller return emails. Simply include "resize=xxxx"(without the quotes, where xxxx is the maximum size file you would like to have returned) in the message body of your page request.“

RFC 1522

„Like the encoding techniques described in RFC 1521 , the techniques outlined here were designed to allow the use of non-ASCII characters in message headers in a way which is unlikely to be disturbed by the quirks of existing Internet mail handling programs. In particular, some mail relaying programs are known to (a) delete some message header fields while retaining others, (b) rearrange the order of addresses in To or Cc fields, (c) rearrange the (vertical) order of header fields, and/or (d) "wrap" message headers at different places than those in the original message. In addition, some mail reading programs are known to have difficulty correctly parsing message headers which, while legal according to RFC 822 , make use of backslash-quoting to "hide" special characters such as "“

Comments of CPSR on Domain Name System to Department of Commerce

„to manage the coordinatedfunctions in a stable and open institutional framework” represents amodel for Internet administration that is orders of magnitude betterthan the flawed Council of Registries (CORE) initiative supported bysome International quasi-governmental organizations (ITU, WIPO, OECD,etc.) because such organizations should have no formal role inInternet governance or domain name registration. We only caution thatin allocating Board of Directors seats on the Ònewcorporation,Ó special care must be taken to ensure balanced andfully international representation by all Internet stakeholders, including the substantial segment of non-commercial Internet end userswho are not reflected in the Internet Society or other currentInternet-related governance organizations. CPSR agrees wholeheartedlywith the Green Paper’s principle that the process of DNS reform“should, as far as possible, reflect the bottom-up governance that hascharacterized development of the Internet to date.”“

IP: FCC Request Comments: Does Interlata Service = Internet?

„(n/k/a Qwest Communications International Inc.) petitionedfor judicial review of the Non-Accounting Safeguards Order in the UnitedStates Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, seeking reversal of the Commission's holding that the term "interLATAservices" extends to both telecommunications and information services. Intheir joint appellate brief, the petitioners contend that the agency'sstatutory interpretation conflicts with the statute's plain meaning. Insupport oftheir argument, the petitioners rely on a 1998 Commission Report to Congressin which, they claim, the Commission declared "that `telecommunications' and`information services' aremutually exclusive categories and that a provider of `information services'does not provide `telecommunications' but rather uses `telecommunications.'"Petitioners argue that if a providerof information services does not provide telecommunications, then it doesnot provide "interLATA service," which the statute defines as a form of"telecommunications." Thus, petitioners contend, the restrictions established by section 271 do notapply when a Bell operating company or its affiliate provides an informationservice.“

ICANN | ICANN Melbourne Meeting Topic: Introduction of Internationalized Domain Names

„Previously, on September 25, 2000, the ICANN Board discussed the evolving efforts to introduce internationalized domain names into the Internet's Domain Name System (DNS). In the resolution adopted at that time, the Board recognized that it is important that: (a) the Internet evolve to be more accessible to those who do not use the ASCII character set; (b) the internationalization of the Internet's domain name system must be accomplished through standards that are open, non-proprietary, and fully compatible with the Internet's existing end-to-end model and that preserve globally unique naming in a universally resolvable public name space; and (c) constructive experimentation with extensions to the domain name system to support multilingual names should be encouraged, provided it is done in a manner consistent with promoting responsible standardization, it avoids disrupting the stability of the Internet or the interoperability of Internet services, and its experimental character is clearly understood by all affected. The text of the full resolution is at: At this time, ICANN wishes to assess progress on the introduction of internationalized domain names (IDN) and invites comment prior to and at the Public Forum to be held on March 12 in Melbourne, Australia.“
