„1) Track the flight: I do this by firing up my handheld GPS and throwing it in the back seat of the Warrior. Most of the time it tracks just fine. Occasionally, I lose the sats for a bit and I get random glitches in the track.“

„Someone familiar with the trails at the top of Kimball, and able to keep themselves oriented in a helicopter flying lots faster than the walking pace usually done around there on the ground. Most of our volunteers have not been to Kimball (it IS a 4000' climb, and at least 5 miles by trail), and there aren't many who can keep track of where they are while in a helicopter. The only reason left, then, for detachments listing tracks as identified, is that Filter Room Operators don't give track numbers for all the tracks plotted. The Filter Officer points out that detachment tellers should insist on identification for each track.
