„Why can't I just use inexpensive GPS technology to know if my car is being stolen? I already have GPS installed in my car via an iPaq Pocket PC, why not leverage that? I mean after all, FEDEX trucks and other vehicles already use GPS vehicle tracking technology. Wouldn't it be great if I could be sitting in a ballpark watching a game and if someone moves my car I would immediately receive a page, SMS, or email on my cell phone or PDA?“

Some slightly related:
„And they hide the plastic container with the mini-treasure inside it (called a "cache" by the cool kids) and take note of the GPS coordinates at which it is hidden using the handy-dandy GPS device. Then they give their hiding spot a title and post the title and coordinates to the Geocaching site . And then they wait for one of the other people with a GPS device to find it, and there are further opportunities of interaction through the cache by leaving messages to other treasure hunters in a little notebook inside the cache.“http://blog.joshlewis.org/archives/ 2003_09.html#000049 - Cached

„(I'd do it on my own site as well but wouldn't you know it...my whole Frontier server seems to have crashed and burned yesterday and I have no idea when it might get better...) I'm not sure where plans are for a edubloggers mini-convention in SF in Nov are at this point (coinciding with NCTE), but I'd like to suggest that an annual miniblogvention at future NECC sites would be a great idea. New Orleans next year and Philly in'05? (Maybe by then we'll need one of the ballrooms for our get together!)“http://necc.edweblogs.org/2003/archives/ cat_bloggers_at_necc.html#000060 - Cached

„The key would be to have the highest resolution for the most accuracy - that is lots of GPS "pixels" on the road map constantly moving and being tracked to calculate average speed most accurately. In the U.S., since there are thousands of FEDEX and UPS trucks that already have vehicle tracking installed, they certainly increase the "resolution" of traffic information across the entire USA. FEDEX and UPS could probably make a KILLING selling this information to a traffic monitoring company that provides integrated real-time traffic data to a GPS navigation device installed in a vehicle.“http://voip-blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/archives/ 2004_04.html#000017 - Cached
