[Archived in Entry, Handspring Pda, Treo Pda]

Gadgets Jeremy on 2003/10/16:

„My main one is my laptop (although it is the slightly older titanium version), which I use constantly. Going with me everywhere is my ipod (which just got even more useful) and my older PDA/phone by handspring (its the Treo 180). I’ve got a new digital camera which I just love. I’ve got a digital video camera as well, which isn’t used nearly as often, but still gets used for the occasional final cut pro edit or video experiment.“

Featured Gadgeteer 11-01-02

„While it is arguable that the rubber stoppers or sticks I would find in the allies of Tipton, IA, and play with for weeks on end could be called gadgets, there is no rebutting that the hinged box I broke to create my first Star Trek communicator started me, at age 6, on an ever expanding and impossible quest: to find the Perfect Beast.“

The Curse of the Early Adopter

„In an effort to cut corners, Apple dropped the cache from L3 (the cache in the titanium models) to an L2, effectively dropping the processor speed to around 900MHz. Your best bet is to buy a refurb titanium machine, take the RAM up to 768 or a gig (at least a gig if you plan to run any pro apps), and get yourself a bigger HD that runs about 7200RPM. Also, if you are interested in burning DVDs, you are best off buying a machine with a Combo drive and purchasing an external DVD burner, which will be faster and more efficient than the internal ones the PowerBooks shipped with.“

Sanyo's stereo mp3 recorder/radio

„We're not absolutely certain that we're allowed to love Sanyo's new voice recorder, but we've always had a soft spot for these gadgets as a way to record interesting bits of sound here and there (and the odd meeting, we must admit). The DiplyTalk (no, no idea what it means) has a stereo mike, records in mp3 format at up to 128kbps and plays back mp3 and WMA files at up to 192kbps (160 for WMA). It also weighs 56 grams and is sized at a vestment-untroubling 29.2 x 117.6 x 12.5 mm.“

An Interview with The Gadgeteer's Julie & Judie

„Well, I am not sure how funny it was, but there was the time that we were working cattle and I had my Palm III in a Rhinoskin titanium case. I had the PDA laying on the table next to the cattle chute, and I would jot info in my spreadsheet program as each cow was worked. The inevitable happened: the PDA was knocked off the table and a 900+ pound cow stepped right on it.“
