[Shadowmite.com] Shadowmite.com Blog » WM5 PDA: As a strong counterpoint to the recent PalmOS news, Microsoft does plan to release a new OS in a very short timeframe.  Now I’m not a big fan of windows, or of giant soulless corporations that are evil in thier basic nature, but microsoft does do one thing well: make operating systems.  I use thier operating system, and largely because offerings from linux dont have the central development nessecary to bring a mobile OS to market and because PalmOS has become defunct by its own very nature coupled with a bungleing corporate policy of self destruction… leaving Windows Mobile the leading PDA-phone OS race almost by default.  I think that a tecnnology war between a few major factions would bring superior products to everyone and quickly advance the already rapid pace that new products come to market, but there arent any operating systems that can offer serious opposition to Windows Wobile.  As much as I would love to see a multitasking Palm OS or a mobile linux from Access or elsewhere,  I dont see either coming anytime soon.  I do see a new generation of Windows Mobile on its way…

Engadget Mobile: Details are sketchy at best, but the rumor goes something like this: Pantech and Danger (yeah, the Sidekick folks) have hooked up to design a dual-slide handset -- think LG SH100, but with QWERTY in one direction and numeric in the other. For the record, it's worth noting that Helio's VP of "Experience Design" Matias Duarte previously served as Danger's director of design, so it's possible that Duarte either called on his former employer to hook him up, or more controversially, that the new design is simply Danger-like in appearance and function.   Echohammer419: Wheww...what a night at Wal-Mart.  I've never seen somany people sitting in one place, in such eager anticipation to waggle theirarms around for hours on end (I jest...).   After clocking in Fridayevening, I raced to my department to check out our PS3 set-up.  It'svery...odd and retarded if you ask me.  The PS3 demo unit is located inthe PS2 gamecase, while the PS3 games are on an endcap, with a PS3 standingup-right, displaying some video, but not playable.  Trust me, it looks asconfusing as it sounds.  Many times during my shift Friday, I had to tellpeople that the demo unit was a good 20 feet away from the actual games. Anyway, from what my colleagues told me, we received 6 units.  Nice oneSony...force feed consumers your Blu-ray format, and make your base suffer withgreater shortages than the 360 (just wait and see).   No wonder why your PS3 won't support 1080i (must read: here) (via Cosmos)

[Kanai.net] Gen Kanai weblog: Sony Connect Player fiasco: Well I don't know where to start my new Sony NW-A3000 arrived this afternoon, aftr reading this weblog I thought f**K it in for a penny in for a pound, loaded connect software ver 1.0.02 then let it upgrade to version 1.0.04.16100, next I updated the firmware on the NW-A3000 from ver2 to version 3 from right out the box, so needless to say when I imported my mp3's using connect software bang 480 mp3's rattled onto my player like no tomorrow, no freezing, no lockups so the only thing I have'nt tried is ripping CD's but I use Exact Copy with Lame to make my mp3's, but looking for a way to stop sony converting my mp3's when putting them on my player, so as of having 2 or 3 hours putting on albums and deleting them off again my connect software and player seems to be sot on, let you know about putting mp3's on the player without sony converting them (My NW-A3000 Rocks)
